Fedora Outlier’s Number One App Of 2013 Brought To You By How To Be Blind: Coming In At Number 2 Is…

I could barely contain my excitement when I used this app for the very first time and it accurately identified my old-fashioned Mickey Mouse telephone. What else could I take pictures of and then have this amazing app tell me what they were?

Since its release in October 2012, TapTapSee has received thousands of downloads, and processes hundreds of thousands of images on a daily basis. TapTapSee has brought the ability to assist everyone in the blindness community in identifying various types of items and products that they would otherwise not be able to identify.

What I love about it is how simple and straight forward it is to use. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to be able to use this very accessible app. Just find the item you want to identify, take a picture using your iOS device and in just a few seconds it will identify what the item is. I told you there wasn’t much to operating this app.

The ability for the blind to be able to identify various items with the use of this innovative application, without assistance from sighted individuals, is ground breaking and why I believe it has become so popular among the blindness community.

Recently, while house sitting at my mother’s home, I needed to change the temperature on her inaccessible thermostat. The temperatures were dropping and I needed heat. What am I to do? I immediately grabbed my iPhone and without hesitation, opened up my Tap Tap See app and clicked away until I heard the correct temperature I desired.

My hat is definitely off to the developers of Tap Tap See for making such a remarkable app that has enhanced the lives of the blind all over the world!
