Posted in Mac

Have you ever needed to create a new user on the Mac? Perhaps you are sharing your Mac with a family member or want to keep business and personal information separate on your Mac.
Read on below and I will show you how you can easily create a new user.1. Go to the Doc by pressing VO (Control+Option) and D and then use the Right Arrow until VoiceOver says System Preferences.
Then press enter to open System Preferences.
2. Press the Tab key until you hear VoiceOver say “Users and Groups.”
3. Open “Users and Groups” by pressing VO(Control+Option) and space bar.
4. The “Users and Groups” window will open and then you can use the Tab key to go to the “Click the lock button to make changes” button. When you do this, VoiceOver will ask for the administrator’s name and password so you can make changes and add a new user.

5. Use the Tab key to go to “Add New User or Group” button and press VO(Control+Option) and space bar to activate this button.
6. You will then hear Voice Over say “New Account Window” and then you can use the Tab key or VO(Control+Option) and the right arrow to navigate the window and type in the information for the account such as “Account Name”.
7. When you are done filling out the information then use the Tab key until you hear VoiceOver say “Create New User” button and press VO(Control+Option) and space bar to activate this button.
8. Once you have done this, then you have created a new user. You will then need to use either the Tab key or VO(Control+Option) and right arrow to get to the “Click the Lock Button to Prevent Further Changes” button and press VO(Control+Option) and space bar to activate this button.
9. Now you can press Command+W to close the System Preferences window.
10. To switch to your new user, press VO(Control+Option) and M two times until you hear “Menu Extra” and then use your arrow keys until you hear the name that you called your new user and press VO(Control+Option) and space bar to activate this menu and then use your up and down arrow keys until you get to the user that you want to go to and open. To activate the new user, listen for the new user name and when you hear it press VO(Control+Option) and space bar to activate it.
You will then hear Voice Over say “Login Panel” and this is where you type in your password and then you will hear Voice Over say “switching to new user”.

So now you know how to create a new user on the Mac.

If you want to delete the new user, do the following:

1. Go to System Preferences by following the steps listed above.
2. Go to “Users and Groups” by following the steps listed above.
3. Use the Tab key until you hear Voice Over say “Click the Lock to make changes” button. It will then ask you for your name and password of the administrator on the computer.
4. You will then hear all of your account information. Use the Tab key until you hear the “Delete User or Group” button and activate it by pressing VO(Control+Option) and space bar. Voice Over will then say “Are you sure you want to delete this user?” and you press the Tab key until you get to the “OK” button and activate it by pressing VO(Control+Option) and space bar.
