Introduction To Rick

Posted in Apple Inc

Hi, my name is Rick Harmon and I’m the latest member to the fabulous Fedora Outlier team. I’m 49 years old and lost my eyesight nearly 8 and 1/2 years ago from ROP (Retinopathy Of Prematurity) similar to diabetic retinopathy.

It’s been a wild and wonderful journey to where I am today. Thanks to many people in the blind online community back in 2005, what seems like eternity to me now, I was able to get back on my feet after going blind. I was able to begin to contribute back in early 2006 on websites such as Blind Cool tech and then later the Blind Geek Zone which I’m the founder and owner of.

In 2006 and 2007 I was able to start offering my services locally at the Akron Blind Center here in Akron Ohio as a volunteer Assistive technology trainer which is where I decided to reach out via the internet to work with others to help them lead more productive lives in 2007 via my services offered on the Blind Geek Zone website.

In the summer of 2012 I contacted Shaun, the founder of Fedora Outlier in an unrelated matter and soon began discussing the possibility of joining the Fedora Outlier team. After 5 months of going back and forth with my state and with Shaun to get everything we needed in place, I’m now thrilled to say that I’m now part of the team and am looking forward to making Fedora Outlier the company you turn to when you are in need of services.
