Success, What Does It Mean To You?

Posted in Apple Inc

Booker T. Washington said, “I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one
has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying
to succeed.” What does it mean to be successful?

Success can be measured in many different ways, from life accomplishments
to career achievements. Success is, of course, different for each individual and as one grows older and wiser, changes with time.

For example, when I was younger, I had a very hard time understanding the concept of telling time. I was determined to learn how to accomplish this task no matter how long it took. There were times that I became quite frustrated and overwhelmed but with a great deal of help from others, I did indeed, in time, forgive the pun, achieve the ability of telling time. My reward for a job well done was my very first Mickey Mouse wrist watch. Yes, this is success.

Fast forward 35 years later. My goals and aspirations have definitely changed over the years, which also means that my ability to succeed has changed as well. My latest success is the fact that I have learned how to use Apple’s iPhone. When I first received my phone, I was definitely not successful at using the device at all. I failed miserably with using the various gestures to operate the device and gave up numerous times.

However, with a great deal of persistence and perspiration I eventually learned how to use my iPhone with great proficiency. Yes, this is success!

Success is not obtained overnight. To be successful in whatever endeavor it is, one must also embrace the failures, difficulties and even obstacles that come with the euphoria of being successful.

Whether its learning to tell time, reading Braille, traveling independently, writing and publishing a book, learning a new technology or starting your own business, as long as you have a goal and the desire to be successful and are willing to give it 110% of your blood, sweat and tears, than you will indeed gain SUCCESS!
